How to wash a large dog at a self-service wash
Plan for safe entry, enough space, suitable equipment, and a comfortable exit.

A large dog's biggest obstacle may be getting into the wash bay. A ramp, tub height, floor space, and any weight limit are worth checking before you travel.
Check the setup
- Look for a confirmed ramp or a ground-level station; an unlisted ramp is unknown, not absent.
- Ask about any size or weight restriction and whether the bay gives your dog room to turn.
- Check the dryer type and whether towels are included if your dog has a thick coat.
During the wash
Let your dog enter at their own pace. Keep a secure hold without pulling them into the tub. Rinse the undercoat thoroughly, then allow enough time for drying and a safe exit.
